Allegion’s Technical Glass Products (TGP) recently hosted local students and community members for its 2023 Manufacturing Day celebration. TGP took the opportunity to show locals how the glass industry is adapting to new trends and innovating to remain competitive.
According to the Manufacturing Institute, Manufacturing Day is celebrated nationally on the first Friday in October. It’s manufacturing’s biggest annual opportunity to inspire the next generation, positively shift perceptions about the industry and build the foundation for the future manufacturing workforce.
TGP officials say the event at the company’s headquarters helps cultivate relationships with Washington schools to usher in the next generation of manufacturers through tours, panel discussions and internship programs. This year’s event included a tour of the company’s facilities and a presentation on the current state of manufacturing.
“Manufacturing is growing and evolving alongside technological advancements,” says TGP’s general manager Devin Bowman. “Not only are there entry-level opportunities available now, but many lay the foundation for multiple career paths that build into lifelong vocations.”
Bowman adds modern manufacturing isn’t just about building the same things daily. He says it requires technological skills, creative thinking and complex problem-solving.
