Vitro Architectural Glass has invested $70 million in a new glass furnace at its Toluca, Mexico, plant. The investment will increase production to 230 tons daily, says Shlomo Frymerman, director of the containers business unit. The plant produces glass packaging for cosmetics, premium liquors and specialties.
The furnace enables the Toluca facility to offer glass manufacturing and value-added processes from a single operating center. Company officials add that the investment also increases production, sales and export capacity.
“This new furnace strengthens our ability to meet the growing demands of our customers, as well as increase our flexibility and offer high value-added products through cutting-edge technology and sustainable production processes,” says Frymerman.
According to a company statement, the furnace was built with technology that optimizes energy consumption and minimizes CO2 emissions.
“This investment is a firm step in the execution of our strategic plan, aimed at consolidating ourselves as the leading company in innovative glass solutions in the markets and segments in which we participate while maintaining profitable and sustained growth,” says CEO Adrián Sada.
