Security Door Controls Doubles the Size of Its Campus Headquarters

Security Door Controls (SDC) has announced an expansion that will double the size of its campus headquarters in Camarillo, Calif. Officials for the electrified access control hardware manufacturer state the move will expand manufacturing, research and development, training and warehouse capabilities.

According to officials, the news follows a multi-year search for suitable factory space. SDC ultimately decided to expand into the parking lot across from its current headquarters.

“It’s always been about increasing our self-reliance and becoming an even more sustainable enterprise,” explains CEO and president Shane Geringer. “We are incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity open up right under our noses. Although it’s a big investment, history has shown that when we make strategic moves to boost our operations, we have more than recouped the investment through increased efficiency and throughputs.”

The expansion will ensure that SDC is not vulnerable to supply chain challenges and inflation pressures, suggest officials. Geringer adds that SDC can now warehouse more inventory parts and sub-assemblies at favorable costs and increase factory production capabilities to reduce reliance on outside vendors.

The additional space also allows for more research and development and enables SDC to relocate its specialized machine shop prototyping equipment to a designated area. Additionally, SDC is using its newly available space to expand its training classroom to accommodate more products, people and hands-on training tools and exercises.

Quaker Invests in Expansion, Innovation Capabilities

Quaker Windows and Doors has announced a $10 million investment to expand its Freeburg, Mo., manufacturing facility. Officials report the investments include a 100,000-square-foot addition to the door and window manufacturer’s facility and a new engineering and innovation center.

The center will focus on new product design and development, certified product testing and equipment design and fabrication. At the same time, the added space will increase production capacity and pave the way for new wood product offerings, officials said. The projects are expected to be completed by March 2024.

The expansion will generate more than 50 new jobs with the support of the Missouri Department of Economic Development through its Missouri Works program.

“We’re thrilled to announce this significant investment in our manufacturing capabilities and the creation of our Engineering and Innovation Center,” says CEO Kevin Blansett. “This expansion will allow us to serve our customers better, continue to bring innovation to the market and increase our product offering.”
