AkzoNobel has launched an online energy-saving calculator for its lineup of powder coatings. Officials say customers can calculate the energy and carbon reduction they could achieve using project-specific products. The calculator is currently only available in Europe, however.

Jeff Jirak, the director of Powder Coatings, says the program will allow AkzoNobel to create better awareness and enable customers to understand the potential energy and carbon reduction that can be achieved with low-cure powder coating.
“We’re fully committed to reducing the environmental impact of our products and processes while creating opportunities to make improvements across the value chain,” says Remco Maassen van den
Brink, marketing director of Powder Coatings. “The energy savings calculator and guide are just the latest examples of how we continue to help customers make informed decisions that can help them run a more sustainable business.”
According to officials, the calculator is supported by a comprehensive guide explaining how even little adjustments to the powder coating process may increase energy efficiency. These include checking for leakages in compressed air systems, improving insulation and ensuring all process equipment is regularly serviced and maintained.
