John E. Kalakos, a former executive vice president of Traco, passed away on April 13, 2023, at his home in Pittsburgh. He was 79 years old.
Kalakos was well known throughout the commercial window industry, says Bill Wilson, CEO of Specified Systems Inc.
“John was a widely known figure in the commercial window industry, working diligently to develop client relationships for Traco for more than 40 years,” he adds. “He was highly motivated and well respected by clients, co-workers and competitors.”
Kalakos retired from the industry following Alcoa’s acquisition of Traco in 2011. However, he spent time consulting for Peerless Products Inc. and Specified Systems.
“John was open and direct, kind and caring of others,” says Wilson. “He was iconic in his success and will be missed by many friends and family.”
