Glass Performance Days (GPD) returns June 13-16, 2023, to Tampere, Finland, taking place at the Nokia Arena. The biannual event hosts workshops, technical sessions and exhibitions. Attendees will encounter numerous learning and networking opportunities throughout the global glass industry showcase.
The event also seeks to celebrate leaders who have impacted the glass industry. Organization officials announced that nominations for the Jorma Vitkala Award of Merit are now open. The award was created in 2017 and recognizes an individual who has contributed to the growth of the international glass industry.
“This award is intended to honor someone who has made personal and outstanding contributions to the international glass industry over the years,” says Jean-Paul Hautekeer, Dow’s global marketing director. “Examples could be product/process development, innovations, systems, construction, design, architecture, ambitious research initiatives, advanced learning or sustainability.”
Nominations can be completed online here. A description of the nominee’s relevant merits and contributions is required. The submission period ends on May 5, 2023. The nomination committee will select five to 10 candidates and hold online voting in May. The winner will be celebrated at the GPD conference dinner on June 15, 2023.
