Hurricane Laura barreled through Louisiana as a Category 4 storm Wednesday night into Thursday morning with winds up to 150 mph. While Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards said the damage wasn’t as bad as anticipated, at least six people were killed, hundreds of thousands were left without power and many buildings were severely damaged.
One of those buildings includes the Capital One tower in Lake Charles. The high winds shattered much of the building’s all-glass façade, leaving gaping holes, especially on the lower floors of the building. Here is video showing the damage:
According to an article from Fox News, the building was also damaged during Hurricane Rita in 2005.
“It went through years of renovations that included ‘ballistic protection’ for the external glass panels, according to the architecture firm that handled the repairs,” reads the article.
Laura is now a tropical depression as it finishes making its way through Arkansas.
