Glass Industry Vet John W. Turnbull Passes Away

John Turnbull

The passing of glass industry veteran John Turnbull was recently announced. Turnbull, who spent a number of years with Dupont and was involved in the development of a number of industry standards, passed away in July at the age 72.

Turnbull was a 1962 graduate of St. Francis College with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. He went on to receive his doctorate in chemistry from the University of Florida in 1970. He worked for the E.I. Dupont Company until 1999, first in research and then in the Polymer Plastics department in Washington Works, W.Va., with a return to Wilmington, Del., as new venture manager.

During his time with DuPont, Turnbull was involved in the awarding of multiple patents related to auto glass safety and was published in multiple scholarly journals. After his retirement, he continued to be involved in the industry and the development of industry standards.

The family requests that memorial donations may be made to the Delaware Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 100 W. 10th St. Suite 209, Wilmington, DE 19801.
