IGMA 12th Annual Summer Conference Next Week

The Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance (IGMA) 2013 Summer Conference takes place August 7-10, at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel and Resort in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.  The event features the top minds from the insulating glass (IG) industry with many networking opportunities and fun events such as the Strolling Culinary Tour and Tall Ship Dinner Cruise.

The major focus of the conference is product quality, specifically through certification, testing and in-house quality systems with presentations by Dan Braun (ATI) on NFRC 706, IG Certification requirements for thermal performance and current prequalification strategies under development at IGMA.  The Thursday session will feature “Current Failure Trends in the Industry”  presented  by  Bill  Lingnell of Lingnell  Consulting  Services  and  IGMA  Technical Consulting.

All attendees of the conference will also receive a copy of TB-1400-13, Language of Sealed Insulating Glass Units, the first of three new documents to be published by IGMA this year.

Mike Burk, an adult education specialist from Quanex, will lead a hands-on training session titled “In-House Testing for Manufacturing Facilities.” The talk will focus on key failure modes and in-house testing throughout the IG production that can help improve end-product quality and consistency.
