Scott Thomsen, president of Guardian Industries Global Flat Glass Group, will serve as the keynote speaker at the Glass Association of North America’s (GANA) annual Building Envelope Contractors (BEC) Conference next week in Las Vegas.
Thomsen, who oversees the worldwide operations of Guardian’s flat glass manufacturing, marketing, distribution and product development, will deliver a state of the glass and glazing industry address that challenges glaziers to engage in “The Battle for the Wall.” Thomsen will speak on Monday, March 18, at 8:15 a.m.
“There are dynamic changes taking place in the world of glass, in particular, a fight for glass against alternatives as preferred façade materials,” says Thomsen. “We continue to meet this challenge and develop exciting new energy-efficient products for our customers. At BEC, we’ll take a look at what’s driving the industry and how to win the battle.”
“GANA’s BEC Conference is the industry’s primary annual networking event for glazing contractors and suppliers,” adds Bill Yanek, GANA executive vice president. “Scott Thomsen is an integral voice of the industry that earns immediate respect. We’re looking forward to hearing his vision of our industry, and what the future holds for Guardian and the entire glass and glazing community.”
Before being named president in 2011, Thomsen was group vice president of Guardian’s North American flat glass operations and chief technology officer for the company’s Science & Technology Center. Prior to joining Guardian in 1999, Thomsen was vice president of engineering and fabrication operations at Optical Imaging Systems Inc. He also held engineering, management and research and development positions at Honeywell Space and Aviation and GM-Hughes Electronics.
The BEC Conference is being held at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino March 17-19. Visit www.glasswebsite.com for more information.
