AGC Glass Co. North America has announced the reopening of its G1 float line at its plant in Greenland, Tenn. The line will serve both the architectural and automotive markets, producing both clear and tinted float glass.
AGC also has installed new equipment for environmental controls in an effort to improve the air emissions from this manufacturing line to meet standards and enhance air quality in the region.
“The restarted production line marks another important step in our efforts to strengthen the company’s operations in North America,” says Mark Ishiko, president and CEO of AGC. “AGC is committed and fully intends to succeed here.”
The G1 line will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. An additional 100 jobs have been created as a result of restarting this line. The Greenland float line will be the company’s fourth. The company also has float lines in Richmond, Ky., and Spring Hill, Kan.
