Volume Picks Up at GlassBuild America

Dr. Gold and Company needed just an hour to take seven new orders, while Bystronic Glass Inc. also enjoyed a banner day by finalizing three deals.

Wednesday’s second day of the GlassBuild trade show in Atlanta was unquestionably different from the previous one that was slower than many expected, say exhibitors on hand at the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC).

“It was much better than [Tuesday],” says Bystronic Glass president Scott Knisley. “[Tuesday] was a little slow.”

The uptick in foot traffic came as welcome news to exhibitors hoping to showcase new products while simultaneously generating new business leads. Tuesday’s opening day of the three-day conference was marked by decidedly fewer people and less buzz than in years past, said many veteran GlassBuild participants.

The turnaround also came as welcome news to Melanie Byrne, the chief executive officer for manufacturer Dr. Gold and Co. Like other exhibitors, Byrne admitted to being somewhat concerned initially, only to see their fortunes change.

“So far, so good,” she says.

GlassBuild America concludes on Thursday afternoon.
